Product Care

Best Practices

  • Avoid moisture.  Remove your piece before bathing, swimming, or cleaning.

  • Remove jewellery before any heavy activity such as gardening, exercising, or playing sports.

  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, or cleaning products.

  • Keep your jewellery separate from other pieces.  We suggest keeping them in separate cloth bags to avoid accelerated tarnishing and damage.

  • Always be gentle while cleaning. Never pull on chains.

Material Type

Sterling Silver

Tarnishing is a natural reaction when sterling silver is in the presence of saltwater, air pollutants, or everyday items that contain sulfur, such as leather, rubber, and chlorine.  To remove heavy tarnish, use a jewellery polishing cloth.  Silver polish or dip-style cleaning solutions are not recommended.  Use a soft bristle toothbrush and warm water to remove dirt and grime.

Gold

Gold is naturally resistant to tarnishing, but it can lose its lustre over time.  Use a jewellery polishing cloth to bring back its shine.  To remove dirt and grime, add a few drops of dish soap to warm water and let the piece soak.  Then scrub gently with a soft bristle toothbrush.  This method is not recommended for items that contain sensitive gemstones or pearls.

Gold Plating

Unfortunately, gold plated pieces do not last forever.  Plating is a fine layer of metal that can scratch and wear over time.  Use best practices when caring for your plated piece and never scrub them with anything.  Gently use a soft cotton cloth to spot clean.

Gold Filled/Vermeil

Gold filled items have a much thicker layer of gold around a base metal than gold plating does so using a polishing cloth occasionally to gently shine the piece is acceptable. To remove dirt and grime, wash gently with warm water and use a soft bristle toothbrush.

Gemstones

Every gemstone has different properties, and it is important to research proper care for them.  You can also contact us for this information.
